About
I am Saman Kohnepushi, an Iranian MA-holder seeking a PhD position in linguistics. Having been attracted by the impact it has on our understanding of the world, I became fascinated with the world of linguistics during my undergraduate studies.
I graduated in English Language and Literature from the university of Kurdistan Sanandaj, where I developed my interest in linguistics through courses like Linguistics I and II, so that I continued my studies by pursuing a Master degree in Linguistics at Allameh Tabataba’i university, delving deeper into the field, particularly formal semantics. I am now eager to contribute further through rigorous research and scholarly pursuits.
Throughout my academic journey, I have actively engaged in research, culminating in my Master's thesis. In this research, I successfully addressed challenges in analyzing the Kurdish and Persian tense systems by applying a binary tense framework. This research resulted in a scientific paper currently under review.
My research interests encompass formal semantics, syntax, pragmatics, and their interfaces. I have developed a keen interest in tense and aspect, evidentiality, modality and its relation to temporality, and presupposition. However, my interests extend beyond these areas, and I am open to exploring other avenues of study within the field of linguistics.
